Last year I was fortunate enough to be invited to be a judge in Esri Canada Schools National Story Map Competition. Really I was blown away with what 13-16 years olds can do with a little help and encouragement.
Do you know any grade 6 to 12 Educators in your community? If so please let them know of this exciting opportunity for the Esri Canada Schools Story Map Competition! Story Maps are a great way to introduce geospatial technologies in education. I’ve done some story map presentations at schools and as part of GIS Day and use it as part of my own teaching.
The deadline to submit is May 2nd! The prizes include:
1st Prize: $300, plaque, & class pizza party
2nd Prize: $200
3rd Prize: $150
Educator submitting the First Prize winning entry wins a trip to attend the 2019 Education Summit @ Esri UC in San Diego, CA July 6th – 9th. Approximate retail value of the Educator Prize based on a Toronto departure is $3,600 CAD.

Have kids in school? Why not reach out to an educator and see what a difference a personal touch can mean. Do you or they need some help? Let me know and I can see about a little introduction to story maps.
