Salary: $58,764 to $87,303 annual ($31.07 to $46.16 hourly)

(Educational Supplement: Master’s degree $2,725 per annum; PhD $5,450 per annum)

Assiniboine’s Geographic Information Systems Advanced Diploma program combines GIS technologies and how to solve real-world problems for an in-depth education that can be applied in any number of industries. We provide students with hands-on learning through labs, field trips and lectures, and a dynamic, student-focused atmosphere of small classes and industry experienced faculty.

Be Passionate.

We are looking for a dynamic, highly innovative and engaging instructor who will substantially contribute to growing the field of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Precision Agriculture. Primary responsibilities include teaching, developing, and updating introductory and advanced GIS courses (e.g., GIS programming, Server, GIS Analysis, and Cartography) that compliment and strengthen the GIS curriculum. Familiarity with agricultural based equipment systems and their GIS applications, basic programming skills in spatial languages, networking and cloud-based GIS systems is also beneficial to the position. Thorough knowledge of the ESRI Suite including ArcPro, ArcMap, AGOL, open-source GIS and Geographic Information Systems terminology and concepts is required.

You will deliver highly interactive, hands-on classes where student success is the goal. You will be an engaging and forward-thinking instructor, who embraces our “learn by doing” philosophy while providing leadership and mentorship to students. Experience with curriculum development and learning management systems is preferred. Must be motivated and a lifelong learner who is ready to keep current with GIS and precision agriculture technology advancements and be able to deliver to students in engaging and stimulating formats.

Deliver Results.

To deliver results, you will have post-secondary education in Geographic Information Systems or a closely related discipline along with professional GIS industry related experience and a background in geospatial concepts & data management and experience with ESRI-ArcMap software. Experience and familiarity with the agricultural industry will be considered an additional asset. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary faculty in agriculture, environmental technologies, civil technology and communication engineering technology, as well as with other stakeholders in the community and the province. Post-secondary teaching experience, strong written and oral communication skills and a desire to create and deliver new and innovative course materials is a key to success.
