Manitoba Hydro is looking for a GIS Technical Assistant for the Distribution Design Department.

Position Overview:
You will coordinate and/or perform the administration, maintenance, and dissemination of eGIS databases for electrical and gas distribution facilities and land base information. You will produce and maintain complex distribution-related drawings using GE Smallworld Core and Design Manager, AutoCAD, and H-Atlas.
Responsibilities:

Maintain accuracy of electric and gas distribution system data in GIS databases.

Troubleshoot GIS problems and make corrective actions.

Review and validate submitted data (including as-built data).

Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Distribution Engineering Department on GIS-related committees.

Manage eGIS conflict resolution for complex projects.

Manage requests for GIS data from internal and external customers.

Assist other staff with eGIS Distribution software/data and standards adherence.

Perform complex spatial analysis (data queries and reports).
Qualifications (Must have one of the following):

A diploma in GIS Technology from a recognized institute and four years’ directly related experience.

Minimum Grade 12 graduation and a certificate in GIS from a recognized institute and four years’ directly related experience.
Other Required Qualifications:
-
Specialized skills in GE Smallworld Core and Design Manager, AutoCAD, and H-Atlas.

Working knowledge of distribution system terminology, standards, equipment, and fundamental mathematics (geometry/trigonometry).

Working knowledge of surveying principles and relevant CSA/transport requirements.

Ability to assemble cadastral and technical data to prepare detailed and accurate plans.

Must be mature, tactful, and possess the ability to influence and direct others.

Required to possess a valid Province of Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
Salary Range:
$37.94-$52.52 Hourly, or $72,703.54-$100,638.98 Annually. Starting salary is commensurate with qualifications.
